Common faults and treatments for Rotary Lobe Pump are listed below:
Pump does not restart properly
- Solids settle in the pump body after the pump is out of service: the pump needs to be cleaned.
- Rotor expansion, stuck pump casing: check the temperature and composition of the material, select and replace the appropriate rotor.
- Long fiber metal or plastic pieces of foreign matter stuck in the pump: clean the pump, inlet installation of cutting and crushing machinery.
- Rotor axial tolerance is not suitable: adjust the axial tolerance.
- Insufficient motor power: Replace the motor.
The pump is not self-priming
The pump can not self-priming - inlet and outlet valves are not open: open the inlet and outlet valves.
- Self-priming height is too high: Reduce the self-priming height and fill the pump.
- Seal failure: Replace the seal.
- Wrong flow direction: Change the direction of rotation.
- Clogged inlet pipe: Clean inlet pipe.
- Inlet leakage and air intake: Check gasket or inlet tightness.
- Air bubbles in pump or piping: fill with fluid or remove air.
- Rotor rubber layer broken: replace the rotor, check the temperature and composition of the material, select and replace the suitable rotor.
Pump Vibration
- Speed too high, pump void not filled: reduce speed or increase inlet pressure.
- Worn rotor: replace rotor.
- Damaged bearings: replace bearings.
- Clogged inlet pipe: Clean inlet pipe. Inlet pipe clogged: clean inlet pipe,
Leakage from the top of the intermediate isolation chamber
- Mechanical seal O-ring damage: replace the O-ring.
- Mechanical seal failure: replace the mechanical seal.
Insufficient flow or head
- Excessive inlet resistance: check the inlet pipe and clear the blockage.
- Insufficient pump speed: adjust the pump speed.
- Clogging inside the impeller or piping: Clear the clogging inside the impeller and piping.
Excessive Noise
- Bearing wear: replace the bearing.
- Impeller unbalanced or too tight: adjust the balance and tightness of the impeller.
- Installation is not firm: re-install the pump body.
Poor sealing performance
- Deteriorated, loose or worn seals: Check the condition of the seals and adjust or replace them.
- Leakage between the pump body and piping: check the connection area and replace gaskets and other sealing materials.
motor failure
- Bad motor wiring: Check wiring and reconnect.
- Worn motor bearings: replace motor bearings.
